Our sweet Lucy Leigh arrived on Wednesday, June 9th at 7:34am and we have been soaking up every minute with her since. She was born at the local Italian hospital in Vicenza and her and I stayed for four days in a shared room with two other moms and their babies. Michael was able to be there for her birth and visited an hour each evening until he picked us up on Saturday afternoon.

It was the most wonderful feeling leaving the hospital as a family of three and bringing Lucy home! We were both exhausted after the hospital stay and spent the next several days relaxing at home.

Italy opened up to visitors from the States just in time for our families to visit. My parents arrived at the end of June and Michael’s family will be here next week. We are so grateful the timing worked out for them all to meet Lucy and for her to meet her family! We have started settling into some sort of schedule and she has been a pretty great sleeper for the most part (if I forget about last night). It’s hard to believe she will already be one month old this Friday.
Things to know about Lucy at one month: Her hands are always up next to her face (which you will notice in the photos). No I do not pose her that way! She has certainly found her hands and loves to put her hands and fingers in her mouth. She did not enjoy her first bath one bit, but is starting to come around to it and might even enjoy them now! When she’s awake she finds something to look at and locks in on it for a long time. She loves staring at faces and pictures. Finally, she took her first trip this past weekend! We went to Florence for two nights with my parents and she was an absolute angel. We know she won’t remember any of our travels in Europe, but we are looking forward to making the memories with her and sharing the photos of her adventures with her in the future.
And now for a photo dump of some of our favorite Lucy photos:
